          Saddle Creek Retention Treatment Basin

The Saddle Creek Retention Treatment Basin (RTB) is part of the City of Omaha’s Clean Solutions for Omaha (CSO) Program which is designed to improve water quality in our local rivers and streams.  Over the next few years, Hawkins will construct a series of underground compartments designed to treat up to 160 million gallons per day of combined sewage overflow.  Once complete, a two-story building will sit on top of the retention treatment facility, housing controls, screening equipment, chemicals, and office space.

Construction began in April 2019.  To date we have excavated 191,378 tons of soil.  77,000 lineal feet of h-pile weighing approximately 6.8 million pounds will support the retention facility.  Dual 9-foot diameter sewer piping has been laid to divert combined sewage into the treatment basin during wet weather events.  In total, the facility will include approximately 7 million pounds of rebar and 26,000 cubic yards of poured concrete.
